Central Ohio Team Makes History with Finish at 2023 Chipotle-USA Hockey National Championship
EDP Spiders Make History as First Central Ohio Team in Final 4 of USA Hockey Youth Tier 2 14U National Championship
Denver, Colorado April 3, 2023 — The EDP Spiders, a Central Ohio youth hockey team, made history by making it to the final four of the 2023 Chipotle-USA Hockey National Championship for the Youth Tier 2 14U category. This remarkable achievement marks the first time a team from Central Ohio has reached the final four in this prestigious championship. The EDP Spiders advanced to Nationals winning the MidAm Ohio State Championship with victories over the Toledo Cherokee, CCYHA Blue Jackets, CAHA Capitals and Cleveland Sharks. The National Championships took place in Denver, Colorado, showcasing the talent and dedication of youth hockey teams from across the United States.
USA Hockey, initially known as the Amateur Hockey Association of the United States, crowned its first national champion on April 3, 1938, when the Hershey Bears completed a three-game sweep of Detroit Holzbaugh Ford to win the Senior Open title. Since then, the national championship has become a significant event in the world of youth hockey, with the Chipotle-USA Hockey National Championship representing the pinnacle of success for youth hockey teams across the nation.
